Gladiolus × hortulanus 'Priscilla' flowers [UV]

Description

Title:
Gladiolus × hortulanus 'Priscilla' flowers [UV]
Caption / Description:

Gladiolus 'Priscilla' photographed in ultraviolet light. In UV the base areas of the petals are quite dark, as opposed to the pale yellow colour they appear in visible light. In visible light the edges of the petals are darker pink, but there is no obvious edge 'colour' to the petals in ultraviolet.

The flowers are arranged on a tall flower spike, with flowers opening first at the bottom of the spike. As the newer flowers higher up the spike start to unfurl, the older flowers at the base of the spike start to die off.
