Hi Ernst

I'm not sure which firmware version I was using on the MC-11, but it likely was an older version.

Dear Mr. Kennard,

I try to use the same set, Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS STM + MC-11 + A7RII. Sporadically I can get some AF working but most of the time not. Even the lens is set on MF the focusing ring does not have an effect. Aperture seems to be controllable. I have the latest MC-11 firmware installed and wonder whether your experience was based on the 1.05 firmware in 2018. If so I can downgrade the firmware to make it workable. My other lenses will still cope then I think. No issues with the lens on a Canon 5DII.

Great and thorough article, it saved me a lot of time.

i use 55 250 stm on my sony crop sensor with 1.4x kenko 300 teleplus and metabones 4, i also bought a custom ef bayonet plate for the lens instead of shaving off the efs bayonet.

I just love the size of it, it is my favorite travel zoom combo. I tried several canon zooms + tc combos, but i always ended up with purple-blue fringes. imo, this is the only acceptable combination that also reports correct distance and metering to camera and looks robust even when shooting against the light. rubber 58mm hood helps too and a6500 internal stabilizations gives me extra few stops.
