Larges bushes grow up outside Ludlow Castle beneath the Castle's square towers.
The Royal Welch Fusiliers were founded at the Castle by Lord Herbert of Chirbury in 1689, but it was abandoned shortly after and fell into decay. In 1811 what was left of the castle was purchased from the crown by the second Earl of Powis, whose family still owns it to this day.
