A Large Rose Sawfly (Arge ochropus) feeds on Flat leaf Parsley (Petroselinum neapolitanum). Arge ochropus looks very similar to the other Large Rose Sawfly (Arge pagana), both of which have a black head, orange abdomen, and the black marking on the wings. They can be told apart from Arge pagana's all-black thorax and legs.

Arge ochropus is considered a pest of Roses, laying its eggs in soft young rose stems. When the eggs hatch, the stem will split as the larvae emerge. The sawfly larvae, which resemble white-green caterpillars covered with black spots, then eat the leaves of the Rose.
