A section of path leads between the outer wall and an inner wall of Ludlow Castle.
In 1472 Edward IV sent his son the Prince of Wales to live at Ludlow Castle, which was also the seat of Government for Wales and the Border Counties, this meant that Ludlow was in effect the capital of Wales at this time.
