A Meligethes species pollen beetle on a flower. The beetles and their larvae feed on the pollen of flowers. Eggs are laid on unopened flower buds in April/May. After feeding for a few weeks, the larvae bury themselves in the ground and overwinter before emerging as adults the next year.
