Ultraviolet photograph of an Orange Welsh Poppy (Meconopsis cambrica var. aurantiaca) flower. Below right of the flower is an unopened poppy flower bud.
The fower's appearance differs slightly in ultraviolet, with the stamens and stigmas appearing quite dark.
The flower is found naturally in upland areas of Western Europe, preferring damp, rocky areas.
