Title:
Hawthorn fruit (Crataegus monogyna)
Caption / Description:

Deep red 'berries' (technically pomes) on a Common Hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) bush in early autumn. The fruit, known as Haws, can be used for making jellies, jams, syrups, and wine. For the vast majority of Hawthorn bushes though, the fruit is left to the birds.
