Close-up of a yellow Meadow buttercup (Ranunculus acris) flower. The flower is composed of 5 glossy yellow petals surrounding a mass of green-yellow carpels at the very centre and a large number of yellow stamens.
As the plant's common name suggests, Ranunculus acris is commonly found growing in meadows. It can grow to a height of 90 cm, though more commonly will grow to around 30-40 cm. Another common name used for the plant is the Tall buttercup.
