Pyrus communis 'Conference' blossom [UV]

Pyrus communis 'Conference' blossom [UV]

Description

Title:
Pyrus communis 'Conference' blossom [UV]
Caption / Description:

Flowers of the Conference Pear (Pyrus communis 'Conference') photographed in ultraviolet (350nm). In ultraviolet the flowers appear darker than they do in visible light. There does not appear to be any dark markings on the petals (nectar guides) as found on some other flowers, the dark patches on some flower petals are where they are wet from rain.
The Conference pair takes its name from the National British Pear Conference, where it won first prize in 1885.
