Hydrangea flowers [UV]

Hydrangea flowers [UV]

Description

Title:
Hydrangea flowers [UV]
Caption / Description:

Flowerhead of a Hydrangea cultivar photographed using reflected Ultraviolet light. While this particular specimen has bright pink flowers in visible light, in ultraviolet they appear much darker. The central part of the flowers (these flowers are sterile) also appears much darker in UV.
Small insects (likely Springtails) appear as white specks and contrast against the UV dark sepals of the flowers.
