Hosta flower [UV]

Hosta flower [UV]

Description

Title:
Hosta flower [UV]
Caption / Description:

Flower of a variegated Hosta cultivar photographed using reflected ultraviolet light. In ultraviolet the flower is darker than visible light, though the darker stripes down the centre of each petal can still be observed. The filaments and style are all much darker in UV. The stigma is still quite bright (as in visible light), but the pollen covering the anthers is much darker. More flower buds and open flowers can be seen out of focus on the flower spike behind.
