Ultraviolet photo of a double-flowered infloresence of a cultivated Orange daylily with the buds of unopened flowers behind it.
In ultraviolet the flowers have a similar tone to in visible light, except at the base of the petals. Darker patches are present near the base of the petals in visible light, but with a lighter area in the centre., splitting each dark patch into two. In ultraviolet this lighter area is not present, and the dark patches extend further down towards the base of the flower. On the inner petals the darker patches are also much more obvious in ultraviolet than they are in visible light.
