Mature flower head of the Rudbeckia fulgida 'Goldsturm' cultivar photographed in near-infrared. In IR the central cone of the florets that make up the composite flower is much brighter than it appears in visible light. However, it is still darker than the surrounding petals. The stigmas at the centre of the cone are brighter in infrared, helping them stand out against the darker cone.
