Palgak-jeong 팔각정

Description

Title:
Palgak-jeong 팔각정
Caption / Description:

A couple sit under the Palgak-jeong (팔각정), on top of Mount Namsan (남산) in Seoul (서울), Korea (한국).

Palgak-jeong means an eight sided pavilion, the one shown here was once named Unam-jeong (우남정), after the first president of the Republic of Korea, Syngman Rhee (리승만), also known as Yi Seungman (이승만), who used the pen name of Unam (우남). However, this specific name was removed from the pavilion after the April Revolution caused Rhee to flee Korea in 1960.
